Summer is right around the corner in Virginia and our job is to make sure you stay cool. To ensure we keep the hot and humid temperatures outside, here are some ways you can prepare your HVAC system for the summer!

Schedule Spring Maintenance

Have you scheduled your annual spring maintenance? We recommend having your system serviced twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. The routine maintenance allows your All Temp technician to ensure your unit is working properly and ready for the seasonal change. Preventative maintenance can also catch problems before they arise, which can avoid a breakdown in the middle of summer!

Replace Your Filters

It is imperative to your comfort this summer to replace your indoor and AC filter. Your indoor filter is found on your walls or ceilings and should be changed at least every three months. Your AC filter could be a multitude of places depending on your HVAC unit, but it is likely the filter is in an easily accessible spot. Ask your technician on their next visit to watch this process!

Clean Your Outdoor Unit

Spring and summertime can mean leaves, grass clippings, and other debris can cling to your outdoor unit. If your unit has a drain, check to see if this is clear of debris as well. We suggest scheduling time each week to make sure your system is clear of debris to maximize efficiency.

Install A Programmable Thermostat

If you have not installed a programmable thermostat, we highly recommend this improvement! A programmable thermostat can save money on your monthly utility bill by the settings it offers. It also puts less stress on your system by the adjustment features it offers throughout the day. Give us a call for more on programmable thermostats!

Test Your Unit

Before the heat is here to stay, test to see if your air conditioner is producing the temperature desired. This will help guarantee your unit is functioning properly and identify issues, if any. Let your unit run for about 30 minutes each day to prepare it for the many hours ahead in summer months.
