Furnace Repair Waynesboro, VA Homeowners Trust
Waynesboro sits along the Route 340 corridor in the Shenandoah Valley, where winter temperatures regularly drop into the low twenties and stay there for extended stretches. That sustained cold puts real demand on furnaces, especially in the mix of older established neighborhoods and newer subdivisions spread across the city.
All-Temp Heating & Cooling has repaired furnaces throughout Waynesboro since 2009. Our technicians work on everything from older gas furnaces in established neighborhoods to newer high-efficiency systems in growing developments, which means we recognize common failure patterns on arrival.
This page covers what furnace repair Waynesboro VA homeowners request most often, the warning signs that point to a repair need, and what to expect once you schedule a visit with our team.
What Furnace Repair in Waynesboro Includes
When All Temp provides furnace repair in Waynesboro, VA, the visit covers everything needed to restore safe, reliable heating.
- Diagnosis of ignition, thermostat, or blower issues affecting heat output
- Inspection of the heat exchanger for cracks or corrosion
- Testing of gas pressure and burner operation on gas furnaces
- Cleaning or replacement of clogged filters restricting airflow
- Review of connected system components, including any heat pump installation backup heat setup
- Full system test through a complete heating cycle before the technician leaves
Furnace repair is one part of our broader HVAC lineup, and technicians flag related issues they find during the visit rather than treating the furnace in isolation.
Signs You Need Furnace Repair in Waynesboro
A furnace usually signals trouble before it fails completely. Catching these signs early often means the difference between a single repair visit and a cold house during a winter storm.
- Uneven heating from room to room, which often points to a blower or ductwork airflow problem
- Frequent cycling on and off without reaching the thermostat setting, a sign of a failing thermostat or restricted airflow
- Strange noises such as banging, rattling, or squealing during startup or operation
- A yellow or flickering pilot light on older gas furnaces, which can point to a combustion problem
- Rising heating bills without a change in household habits, often caused by a furnace losing efficiency
Delaying a repair on any of these signs allows the underlying issue to worsen and increases the risk of a complete breakdown during the coldest part of winter.
Why Waynesboro, VA Homeowners Rely on Furnace Repair
Waynesboro’s position in the valley means winters bring both sustained cold and occasional heavy snow, which keeps furnaces running for months at a stretch. Established neighborhoods throughout the city often run furnaces installed a decade or more ago, right around the point when ignitors and heat exchangers start to fail.
Growing residential areas around Stuarts Draft, just outside Waynesboro, have seen significant new construction, and those newer homes often run higher-efficiency furnaces that still need prompt repair when a control board or sensor issue interrupts a heating cycle. Rural properties along the Augusta County corridor between Waynesboro and Staunton add another layer of demand, since larger homes need furnaces sized correctly for the square footage.
This mix of aging equipment, sustained cold, and larger rural homes is exactly why furnace repair Waynesboro VA calls climb sharply once temperatures drop for the season.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my furnace needs immediate repair?
A furnace that will not stay lit, blows cold air, or produces a burning smell needs immediate attention. Shut the system off and call a technician rather than continuing to run it.
Why is my furnace running but not performing correctly in Waynesboro?
This usually points to a blower issue, a clogged filter restricting airflow, or a thermostat that is not reading the room temperature correctly. A technician can pinpoint the exact cause during a service call.
What causes a burning smell when my furnace starts up?
A brief odor at the start of the season is often just dust burning off the heat exchanger. A persistent or strong smell can point to a bigger issue and should be checked promptly.
Why does my furnace keep turning on and off frequently?
Frequent cycling usually means the furnace is satisfying the thermostat too quickly or shutting down due to a safety switch. Both issues are diagnosable with a standard furnace inspection.
How does All-Temp’s furnace repair process work?
We inspect the ignition system, heat exchanger, and blower assembly, test gas pressure and airflow, and explain what we find before recommending any repair. Every job includes upfront pricing.
Should I repair or replace my furnace?
Repair usually makes sense if the furnace is under 15 years old and the repair cost is well below the price of a new system. Frequent repairs or a cracked heat exchanger are signs replacement is the better long-term choice.
How can I prevent furnace repair problems in my Waynesboro home?
Changing filters on schedule and scheduling an annual furnace tune-up before winter catches most problems early, before they turn into a mid-season breakdown.

Great company, people, and workmanship.
Last year, 2016, we had Matt price out a Mitsubishi split unit heat pump for our four season porch and lower level area. The installation was done on time the area was clean when finished. This year, our main A/C unit froze up, it was a refrigerant leak. We called All-Temp around noon to have it recharged, and to have a price to replace the whole system. Their service technician was over that afternoon, and Forrest came the next day to give us an estimate. The install was done and when they were finished, the area was clean and neat. This week we had them put a wireless thermostat on the porch Mitsubishi unit. We would highly recommend them very for any HVAC work.

Replace 18 year old furnace
Called All-Temp when my furnace quit working. They came quickly and assessed the problem which was a cracked heat ex-changer. Before they left the house a new replacement furnace was ordered and a scheduled date for installation. Only took them 3 days to secure the new furnace and completely install the unit. In the process there were 5 of their employees involved in the installation. They were all very professional and very efficient and made sure we understood what they were saying. I would recommend them to anyone in need of HVAC work.
